Playcentre is a parent-led cooperative (meaning that parents stay on session with children for some of their sessions and help plan learning activities). There is free access to parenting education and first aid courses. We also have a paid, qualified facilitator who supports parents and brings in expert knowledge of the Early Childhood Curriculum and child development.
We have a free play philosophy, children are given a wide range of activity options e.g. carpentry, painting, climbing, bikes, playdough, dress ups and are free to move between them as they choose. Sessions are mixed-age which means that the children get the benefits of looking to older children for cues, interacting with younger children and sometimes being with siblings or cousins.
The age range is 0-6. Under the age of 2.5 children are with their parents or another caregiver every session, but older children may have independent "drop off" sessions.
We are open 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) and our action session times are 9.15am -12.15pm.
Interested parents/caregivers can come with their children for three free visits before deciding whether to enrol.
